Well all good things must come to an end and so it passes that this is the last day MS Ignite for another year . Definitely a more subdued feeling amongst the attendees (maybe due to a big night last night!) and many delegates are already flying home, not choosing to be here for the last day of events.
Waking up at 5am in the morning is a near impossible feat when at home, yet seems to be no problem here. Might have something to do with the sunrise 🙂
Early start today with the 8.15am session on containers with Ben Armstrong. Containers captured my attention when announced in Server 2016 as a great way to virtualise applications.
Last week I attended Linux Conference Australia that was this year hosted in Hobart Tasmania. The weeklong event has the first 2 days dedicated to mini conferences before the selected presentations over the following 3 days.
I was actually there by virtue of being a speaker and mini conference organiser for the Open Radio mini conference. If this may interest you, you can read about it over here on my Radio Blog. Unfortunately this meant a clash with the sysadmin miniconf, but there will be time to catch up on that.
July 25th marks the 15th annual System Administrator Appreciation Day. SysAdmin Day as it is known is an international event that is held on the last Friday of each July and is a day where businesses and colleagues can express their appreciation for the work IT professionals do, often without any recognition.
There are many events being held around the world for systems administrators to unwind on this day – Reddit has a great list. Also if you are in Australia, you have the chance to win a home theatre system from Samsung, a SAGE-AU subscription and a trophy for System Administrator of the Year. Click here for more contest details.
Spiceworks is celebrating the 12 days of Sysmas leading up to Sysadmin Day, with freebies and giveaways.
Finally, If you are an IT Professional looking after other peoples ICT Infrastructure, then SysAdmin day is for you! Spread the word, go out for drinks, or if you are very lucky, get appreciated by your clients with cakes and stuff! 🙂
Have a great day Friday!
