Phew – busy couple of months…
One of the things that used annoy me was that it was always difficult to find information of a fairly specific code or server – The more words you entered into Google, the broader the search became and the more irrelevent the results were. It was getting to the point where it was easier to log a ticket with Microsoft PSS or HP to get the answer than it was to come up with it myself.
Apparently I wasn’t the only one, because in the last 6 months a fantastic community Q&A site has appeared under some different domains.
Server Fault is for all your server and systems administration. Stack Overflow caters for programming of all descriptions & Super User is for the desktop users in us. It is a wiki based Q&A, with lots of neat features – the one which I use most is the taxonomy to quickly search for answers.
If you are a Systems Administrator, and have not seen or heard of these sites, it’s about time you did.
